What did the little crocheter dress up as for Halloween? Answer: Captain Hook, of course!
What happened to the cat who ate a ball of yarn? Answer: She had mittens!
Why do spiders spin webs? Answer: No one's ever taught them to crochet!
What do you call the steps it takes to learn to crochet?Answer: A chain of events!
What did the invisible man make when he learned to crochet?Answer: An afghan like you've never seen!
What did the crocheter say when her doily thread got tangled up?Answer: "I guess that's what happens when bad strings happen to good people"!
Wool is a favorite material to use in yarn, and everyone knows that wool yarn comes from sheep. But do you know how many sheep it takes to make a whole sweater? Answer: None, because sheep can't crochet!
What do new knitters and Christmas trees have in common? They both drop their needles a lot!
A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about. For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife’s bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box.
When he opened it, he found two crocheted doilies and a stack of money totaling $95,000. He asked her about the contents. “When we were to be married,” she said, “my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doily.”
“The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious doilies were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.
“Honey,” he said, “that explains the doilies, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?”
“Oh,” she said, “that’s the money I made from selling the doilies.”
A piece of yarn walks into a bar and orders a beer, but the bartender snarls, “We don’t serve your kind here!”. The yarn is forced to leave. While sitting on the curb feeling sorry for himself, the yarn is suddenly hit with a brilliant idea. Working quickly, he ties himself into a knot and unravels his ends. Taking a deep breath, the yarn marches back into the bar and orders a beer.“Hey!” says the bartender. “Ain’t you that piece of yarn I just threw outta here?”“Nope,” replies the yarn, “I’m a frayed knot.”
So this lady was driving down the highway crocheting as she drove. A highway patrolman noticed her and began pursuit. He drove up next to her car, rolled down his window and said,"pull over!" She replied," no it's a scarf.

Make it short sleeved in cotton for summer and long sleeved in wool for an extra layer in winter
You can make it in a worsted weight yarn / 10 ply or a DK / 8 ply - I am pretty sure you can make it in a fingering weight (4 ply Aussie or NZ) for a delicate look

Hello friends and welcome to another blog post
I get asked many times What photo editing software do I use?"
I use a website called PicMonkey and I love it ! So many options and you can get really creative too
I use it mainly for editing and resizing my photos for my website, Facebook and Youtube
You can get an awesome free version but if you want to step it up a little its only $33USD a year. I have used it for years and would recommend it to everyone
PicMonkey is always updating and bringing out new features. Great for making invitations for birthdays, weddings and house warming. You could even make your own Christmas cards
Have a great day

My purple version was made in a DK yarn with Red Heart Shimmer and my orange version was made with Lily Sugar and Cream worsted weight in Tangerine - I have had this in my stash for a number of years and not sure if you can still get this colour
You can see in the photo below that if you follow the same pattern and use different thicknesses of yarn it will come out a different size

I had a friend come and stay for a week in April and my friend is knitter and a crocheter YAY ! I took the week off work (not that you would have noticed, because everything stayed the same in internet land) We went out almost every day and even fitted in some yarn shopping. You know we were going to, what else would we have done :)

I was excited to design this written pattern for Redheart and now there is a video tutorial as well
The pattern was designed for a child/baby/lap blanket but its really easy to make it bigger. Its as simple as making more squares :)
Video tutorial available on Youtube
The big bottom bag can be make in sizes small, medium and large - but just by adjusting the starting chain you can make it it any size you like :)
Also the opening of the bag can be made smaller or bigger by using a small or bigger size crochet hook. The length of the bag is adjustable by making more or less rounds
The pet bed tutorial is great for using up scraps and can be made in various sizes
The sides of the bed are double thickness for extra stability
This beach bag pattern is easy and great for using up partial balls of yarn. Easy to adjust the size to make a bag that fits your needs
This shawl design is worked side to side and not top to bottom or bottom to top
Self striping yarn works great and I only used 1 ball of Red Heart Unforgettable in the candied colourway
The easy scarf is just that, easy :) Great for beginner and only uses double crochet stitches
I used 100 grams/3.5 oz of yarn in a gradient 8ply/DK s its great for the only 1 ball that we all have in our stash

Did you hear that Knit Picks is having a 40% off sale !!! WOW !! Great time to stock up on all those yarns you have been swooning over.
Over the week end hubby had a day off work and we both needed to get out of the house and away from the stress of working hard. Clearing your mind when you have a high demanding job can do wonders ! Neither of us find our jobs "stressful" but you know what its like when you just need some "me" time
So we jumped in the car and drove about 20 minutes south to look for a cafe for breakfast, even though it was 10 am so it was closer to brunch hahaa. We have a few favorite cafe near us so we always know that we are going to get good service and great food. I am a sucker for a good chocolate and hubby loves his Mochahccino . Personally i can not have coffee because of the caffeine, make me all shaky, but if I did I would be sure to have some chocolate in it
We had a lovely breakfast and enjoyed the warmth of the cafe (its winter here ) then we drove down to the lake. Being winter and a partially fresh day, there wasn't too many people around, perfect ! I found a big rock at the lakes edge and sat and soak up the warmth of the sun, the only thing that could of made it more perfect is if I had brought my crochet. I try not to take my crochet out because I have to give me hands a rest at some point. Even though me head is saying "WHAT are you doing you silly women, you might find a few minutes to fit in some crochet !"Not that it worries me in the slightest, but i also get the look from hubby that says, can you not put that crochet down for 5 minutes hahahhahaaaa no, no I cant ! I am a true addict, crochet and yarn all the way !
I recently made a crochet tutorial with a free written pattern on a pretty shawl
Video tutorial https://youtu.be/z7X5Tw57-Uo
Free written pattern http://www.bobwilson123.org/scarf-cowl-gloves-and-mittens.html
After I finished the shawl decided to block it and the video tutorial is below
Blocking helps the stitches relax and opens up the pattern. Blocking can also help stretch a project if it has turned out a little small

Hello !! Did you know its been 6 weeks since i uploads a crochet tutorial !?
Time flies when you are having a much needed break. My new tutorial is for a shawl and if you use the yarn suggested in the tutorial is make s a soft ans squishy shawl and light enough to wear when you just need a light layer. Of course the shawl will look amazing in any yarn you choose and I can see lots more being made in my future :)
Along with the video tutorial there is also a free written pattern
Just in case you missed a recent post about my hand dyed yarn update, here are some of the items that will be available for purchase :)
You can purchase them here https://www.facebook.com/groups/1058957830792602/
I am really excited to asked to road test the Yarnit. (blog post coming soon ) Yarnit is currently having a kickstarter to get enough funds to produce the larger size ...The big Sully ! If you would like to help Yarnit get the Big Scully into production click HERE, every dollar helps :)
They turned to Kickstarter because without your help, they won't be able to make the Big Sully! Yarnit is proud to be American made and always will be - but manufacturer's set-up costs to tool the factory are nearly $100,000! We need your help to get over this one-time hump so we can produce Big Sully's for years to come!
The big Scully has
The Yarnit is a nearly indestructible globe that keeps your yarn safe and protected from grime, pets, and accidents. Now your yarn will always stay by your side - no more chasing it across the floor or down the isle of a plane or peeling it off your car’s dirty floor mat. No more tangled messes - the centrifugal force design means your yarn easily flows from the globe helping you maintain an even tension.
PLUS, the Yarnit's special rubber base holds securely to all surfaces AND provides a storage well to keep those “never can find ‘em when you need ‘em” items like stitch markers, scissors and darning needles. To top it off, the top of our globe has needle docking slots to keep your needle tips protected and stitches safe on your line when you are taking a break!

Omgosh have you seen the Chroma over at Knit Pick? Such pretty colours and a great price for a long colour changing yarn. Its 70% superwash wool and 30% nylon blend yarn.
I can see a really pretty shawl made in this yarn .....I am going to daydream about all the different variations I can make
If you have already made something with this yarn, please share it on our Facebook page or tag me onInstagram
Hello ! Do you follow me on Instagram ? I have been having fun making a scrap semi solid square blanket. I have been crocheting for a long time and with that comes lots of bits and bobs. I have a heap of Style Craft special DK in the solids and I am on a mission to use up my stash. I have enough to make a blanket that would cover the house HAHAA so i think I will make it big enough for two people to snuggle under
I was asked if I have a plan. Originally I was going to make a heap and then join them together....but as usually i changed my mind and now I am doing a join as you go method. I looked at my square that I have already made and couldn't bare the thought of having to join them after I had made the square
I am really enjoying the join as you go BUT I already had a HEAP of ready made squares (see image of them in the shoe box below) so to join them I have to make new squares ...yep, new ones ! I make them with 3 rounds and then I join them to the 4 rounds already made ones. Its a bit like playing tetris
I started the first square in January 2016 and I plan to have it finished by January 2017. I do get bored easily with blankets, but changing colors is keeping my attention, so I may have it finished before then
Hello and welcome to my new Vlog, More works in progress and lots of yummy yarn for my first Unwind retreat. Grab a drink and your crochet and hang out with me for the next hour and a bit

Hello, welcome to another post :)
I am so exited to bring you my latest designs and even more excited to bring you my new ones that will be released over the next few weeks !! #excited
I have had more requests than I can remember for adult and children garments. These patterns were literally a year in the making. Every time i went to film them I got a horrible phone call and had to be by my mums side for months at a time. So you can imagine my nerves when I finally got to film the first tutorial. By this time my mum had passed away and I was 99% sure I wasn't going to get another horrible phone call, but I was still as nervous as anything
So the storm of chaos has cleared and I am back to teaching and designing (YAY)
Each design can be made with short sleeves or long, 1 or 2 colored. The bodies can be made in 1 color or 2, striped or plain and can be made in MANY sizes !
I have 4 new designs coming up and they will be able to be made in baby to adult
The photos below are clickable and if you want to go to the video tutorial click the photo and if you want the written pattern you can click here or this link http://www.bobwilson123.org/wearables.html_ (if you can not click the photo here is the link to the video tutorials https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBAl2EuIYeKvXgBA77SCIErCumdvYnThS )
